Float Mountain Pro Vest Avalanche Airbag

Mission

To provide floatation in the event of an avalanche as well as trauma protection at the core of being human...

Final Report

Safety, protection, and organization...in that order. Backcountry Access hits a home run with this piece of multi-functional equipment. Having an avy bag is a no-brainer for the serious player but the added protection of a vest from the wayward branch or mis-judged impact can be an injury-minimizing bonus. In addition to shovel and probe storage, the ability to store your beacon and radio functionally is a testament to the ingenuity going on at BCA in Boulder, Colorado. Nuts and bolts aside, the biggest compliment I can give this product is how the vest distributes the weight across your shoulders. A traditional pack can be comfortable under normal use but when you start hucking cornices or landing from jumps, strapped packs loaded with survival necessities can put the hurt on. Tons of storage, multiple compartments, and hydration system ready. As BCA has typically sold out of these the past 3 years, it's safe to say they work. We rate this product 5 out of 5 stars. Well done BCA!

Company Description

Designed for high-performance mountain snowmobiling, the Float MtnPro Vest avalanche airbag is a low profile pack/vest that integrates with external equipment such as hydration systems or our BC Link Radios.
The Float MtnPro Vest features full front, side, and back protection with 1mm of hard shell sandwiched between two layers of PE foam. This provides protection from trees, rocks, handlebars, or whatever else you might come across on your sled adventures. The Float MtnPro Vest includes external shovel carry, secure dual side-release buckles over the front zip, articulated shoulders, and bigger pockets.
BCA’s next-generation Float 2.0 cylinder is nearly 30% smaller and 15% lighter than our Float 1.0 engine. All the Float 2.0 system elements sit entirely separate behind a zippered covering, freeing up valuable space in the main compartment for gear, first-aid kit, and supplies.
BCA’s 200 authorized refill locations around the world make it the easiest refillable airbag system on the market. Float 2.0 air cylinder must be purchased separately.
The Float Airbag system does not guarantee survival in an avalanche incident. Educate yourself, make good decisions, and know before you go!
